This small speaker works beautifully with my Dell Laptop computer. It's plug and play, no installation needed, no batteries needed, no power outlet needed. Just plug it into a USB port and it works right away. Sound is controlled by the volume control icon on the computer, which I do not find inconvenient. If you want to hear the sound from your laptop computer, this is a great speaker that takes up very little space. It has a built in stand also if you want to stand it up. It's loud and sounds surprisingly good for such a small speaker. If you want to hear great stereo music, plug in larger speakers than this, but this little mini speaker does the job for most situations. I was skeptical til I tried it out -- and then I was amazed at the great sound coming out of it. It sure beats the built in speakers on a laptop which are hardly audible at times.

This is a one-wire usb powered mono extension speaker that works well. Its an elegant cylindrical shape with matt black finish and gold trim. Its small and light, and comes with a nice zippered carrying case. It has an eyelet to add your own a carrying lanyard. It produces MUCH more volume then my Asus netbook speakers, with surprisingly powerful tight bass response and good clean harmonic tone. The orbit provides a basic desk top volume and mute control. Once the orbit is connected the netbook volume control is disabled, but the volume control in the application (iTunes, YouTube etc )works. You must attach the device before opening the application such as iTunes, and have to close the application before disconnecting the device. It doesnt seem to suck too much juice out of the netbook battery. Wish usb cable was a bit longer.

My new Lenovo has pretty good speakers, but just limited by volume level. Sometimes we would miss some dialogue while streaming a movie. But, this little speaker with USB power is able to raise the volume level much higher and with an excellent quality. I am very pleased. This is a best buy.

Just bought this through Amazon and so far LOVE it. Small, light, and amazingly good sound for an inexpensive single speaker. Not tinny, nice blend of bass and treble. Listening to classical music on it and it's great. Not concert quality but then it's one, small, USB-no other wire speaker. Very impressed. Lightweight and nice carrying case are also pluses.
Love my 2 pound Lenovo X-60 tablet but the speakers are underneath! making listening to anything sub-optimal. For a long time have looked for a single good speaker for voice and music, with minimal wiring and this really fills the bill.
I did notice that to switch USB ports for the speaker, i have to first end whatever program i'm listening to, then switch to the new port and re-open the program afterwards for the speaker to work.
That said, I would highly recommend this speaker. Thanks to the reviews of others and amazon for posting them.
