As a Desktop Replacement, this fits the bill August 9, 2008 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
Good luck reading this. i've had this computer five days so far (from Office Depot, after my desktop had a BIOS update/OS freeze issue) and it has been everything i thought it would be and more (especially for the price). Actually my rating is probably a 4.75. Here are are the Windows Experience Index scores this computer has (mine and the one at the store).
Processor: 4.8 Memory (RAM): 5.8 Graphics: 4.1 Gaming Graphics: 3.8 Primary Hard Disc: 5.3
So, this computer is not exactly a gaming rig, but seems solid. The graphics scores are hurt by the integrated ATI Radeon 3100. Window Vista 64 bit, dual core processor and a 10 key were key items my lists(the 4GB of 6400 RAM didn't hurt). This is not an aesthetically unappealing computer either. All my programs have worked so far. The FM antenna worked well (better reception than my radio). The DVD burner seems to work well. i liked the touchpad better than most notebooks i have seen (it is flush with the keyboard and less smooth/slippery than some other notebooks i have seen), though i am now using a wireless mouse. Also, the sound on this computer is good (playing MP3s, etc) and the computer actually has a volume dial.
Unfortunately this does come with more that a few bloatware/free trials programs. This computer is not that light either, but it is a desktop replacement (i have the dimensions at about 15.5" x 11.5" x 1.75"). TI is probably going to take a while when you set it up downloading the updates. Another possible negative to this computer is that the battery life i got the first time i tried it was about 1:27 minutes (though i was running a virus scan, surfing the internet using wireless and using the default highest brightness). i got the multicard adapter to read SD, but not xD yet (maybe that has to do with the fact that i deleted the driver, but luckily found it again under one of the Tosiba desktop icons). i couldn't get the face recognition to register correctly, so i uninstalled it (not really that useful anyway). The area by the touchpad does get a little warm. There are no HDMI/REGZA links on this computer or Bluetooth. Another negative is that i can't seem to get the plasticy strip off of the hinge. The screen, the keyboard (kind of glossy) and the case attract dust like a magnet.
