The Bluetooth Issue July 29, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
If the customer who was complaining about the bluetooth issue actually would do his research he wouldnt have had problems. The Acer Aspire 8920 comes with Bluetooth only on the 2499.99 model. There is two models of the 8920, just because he bought the low end version he shouldnt flame about how bad it is. On this lower end version the processer is a little below 2 Ghz from the 2.6 Dual core in the higher version. It has 1GB less ram and the video card is just a step down. For 1299.99 this laptop is incredible and a STEAL. If your a gamer, this is far the best value, do your research, from Alienware, with these specs, it runs over 3000.00+ Runs WoW on highest settings. Even runs Crysis on near max settings.
ACER - A HORROR STORY June 29, 2008 19 out of 30 found this review helpful
FALSE ADVERTISING!!!! I bought this unit based on the Acer website's technical specifications about this unit (paid $[...]). When received it, I discovered the built-in Bluetooth their website claimed it had WASN'T THERE. Even though there's a button on the keyboard to toggle it off and on and software reminders to activate it. I called Acer and they said the computer does NOT come with Bluetooth. I told them their own website said that it did. Eventually I got a letter (through the BBB) saying that they were "sorry for my inconvenience but were not responsible for the information on their website" ???!!!!???
If we can't trust Acer's own website to give us information about their own product, who can we trust? I'm still trying to return the unit. Guys, based on their reasoning, you could buy an 18 notebook, receive a 14 one and they'd just say sorry and that it's not their problem. This is not just one person at Acer who has this attitude, I went up the entire corporate ladder. At this writing the website STILL indicates Bluetooth (http://us.acer.com/public/page4.do?link=oln56.redirect&dau22.oid=36229&UserCtxParam=0&GroupCtxParam=0&dctx1=25&CountryISOCtxParam=US&LanguageISOCtxParam=en&ctx3=-1&ctx4=United+States&crc=2934857869#inu57_51496, under "Configurations: AS8920-6048). I suggest to any potential buyers to avoid Acer and find a company that actually takes its customer responsibilities seriously.
