Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars X61 tablet PC is great   January 27, 2008
The x61 Tablet PC is a phantastic computer. The only problem is VISTA and this is by far not as much a problem as described. With the coming service packs I would see no problem with using this phatastic tablet PC. If consider buying a WWAN - buy the AT&T Service.

5 out of 5 stars Misleading review   November 20, 2007

The review by the person known as "Lenovo Hater" is very misleading. In fact, he/she is not so "very PC literate" as they claim. I've had the X41 for a year (excellent model) and now - because of the amazing ability of the X41 - have now purchased the new X61. They are the best rated Tablet PCs on the market and anyone who knows this has obviously done their homework.

The problem with the other reviewer is the ignorant review itself and not the Lenovo Tablet PC. The problem is actually Windows Vista. Had the reviewer taken just 5 minutes to check out the numerous Tablet PC forums out there, it would've become obvious that Tablet PCs (ALL PCs for that matter) are not ready for Windows Vista - especially notebooks, tablets etc. I ordered my X61 directly from Lenovo, and chose the Windows Tablet PC (Windows XP) operating system instead of Vista. Everything is absolutely perfect. Runs beautifully.

In fact, Lenovo on its very Web site has a 'downgrade' option for frustrated customers like "Lenovo Hater" where you can easily downgrade BACK to Windows Tablet PC edition (an offshoot of XP) with no hassle. These Lenovo Tablet PCs are the best of the best. I know, because I'm on my second one. The newer X61 are also 'finger push' enabled (nice!) where, just like a PDA, you are allowed to use your fingers as well as the included Pen Stylus to get work done. Over the last 2 years, the Thinkpad has continually had excellent reviews by the top IT Web sites and easily blow away the competition of Gateway, Dell, etc.

So, do NOT let the other review change your mind. Just do the homework on the Tablet PC forums, and you too will realize that Windows Vista is always the problem, not just on Tablet PCs mind you, but overall on ANY PC. Vista simply is not compatible with most hardware, and overall is just a rush-to-release operating system that has every single computer manufacturer now offering downgrades because of complaints like the one by "Lenovo Hater".

It's NOT Lenovo and the Tablet PC - It's Windows Vista.

Just get the Lenovo Tablet with Windows XP and you (like me) will be blown away at the best mobile PC on the market.

As a Tier 3 certified technician for over a decade, my review kills "Lenovo Haters" and this item deserves a full 5 stars on the overall star-review.

1 out of 5 stars Don't Buy a Lenovo   November 13, 2007

Horrible, absolutely HORRIBLE!!! That's how I would describe my experience associated with my recent Lenovo X61 Tablet purchase. Don't buy one! I've had it almost 2 weeks and it's malfunctioned right out of the box. Three different service managers at Lenovo have refused to provide any SW de-bug support the pre-installed software, including Vista Business OEM, unless I pay for their "Lenovo Live" service. Microsoft vehemently states that Lenovo is bound contractually to support OEM installs - Lenovo refutes this. The HW support was extremely weak too. I have not loaded any software yet since I wanted to simply learn the tablet functions. The computer locks-up hourly, has had "blue screen" crashes and numerous error messages. At the HW support teams suggestion, I reinstalled the entire system multiple times (consuming 3+ hours each time). Microsoft support generously offered me a free support case but after many hours of effort, they couldn't figure out the issues. Lenovo claims they only allow returns for full credit AFTER I send it in at least once for service. Otherwise, they'll hit me with a 15% restocking fee. I balked at the fee and asked for a customer service manager - they told me none are available and that it takes 2 working days for a reply! It's been three days now, and after repeated calls into Lenovo, no manager has called back yet. Today I called my credit card company to refuse the charges. How does Lenovo stay in business? Coming from someone who's very PC literate, my experience recently forces me to urge you to find another computer to buy. Please, tell all your friends, DON'T BUY A LENOVO!
