Is there any hub that doesn't occasionally have a dead socket on boot-up? November 23, 2008 Well, I like this product. It does what it's supposed to do. Nice to have 7 slots. In one of the slots I have my USB mouse - as with previous hubs, and even with the USB slots on my motherboard (on the back of my CPU case), I occasionally start up my PC and find that the mouse is dead and I need to reset the connection by unplugging it and plugging it back into the hub. Maybe it's the mouse? For under $20, this is a deal!
Dependable PC Desk Accessory November 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Fitted with 7 ports, this aluminum slim line model is nicely weighted and can be mounted or free stand. Transfers are consistent at high speed without issue. It pairs well with both Windows Vista & XP2 platforms. One of the sweeter features about this model is that it can easily be removed from the mounting base and packed for travel. It powers up via USB port or the included supply plug. Like most systems, the Cables To Go Hub is outfitted with a glowing blue power status light. As usual Amazon offers this item at a great price.
doesn't work properly November 20, 2008 I really wanted this device to work well. I had problems with it continually disconnecting and reconnecting. I thought it might have been because I didn't have the power cord attached and it wasn't getting enough power from the USB, but plugging in the power adapter didn't help.
It's been going on since I got the product and it's very annoying to constantly hear the alert on Windows when the devices connect and reconnect -- literally hundreds of time per hour! I didn't even realize there was a time limit for returns, luckily I signed on today and saw I had on more day to return it.
I thought about exchanging it, but then I read the other reviews on here, and I don't want to go through the hassle again. I think I'll just find another more reliable brand.
I like the construction of the device--it looks and feels nice. But let's face it, if a USB hub doesn't work, it doesn't matter what it looks like. It needs to work.
no probs so far November 20, 2008 Running Vista 64-bit HP SP1 and it had no problems self-installing.
Using the power power supply that comes with it, I have a printer 2 external drives and a wireless mouse antenna hooked up to it. So far so good.
I use "handi tak" adhesive putty, a ball at each corner on the underside of the base so it doesn't slide around on my desk.
If you use that self-adhesive foam strip to secure the hub to the base, apply it to that thin plastic sheet that's already inserted inbetween the hub and base, and put the foam side down against the base, not the hub. It's easier to slide the hub off and on that way.
USB Hub to the rescue November 19, 2008 Great little hub. Heavy metal base to weight it down. Comes with a piece of foam to insert between the hub and base to keep it from sliding out of the base. Blue light special light (Kmart still has blue light don't they? or I'm I really that old?) is covered over with a piece of duck-tape.
