gaming with ease December 2, 2008 i havn't been using the command unit long but i love it. the software does take a little time to understand, but once u figure it out its a breeze. i play final fantasy xi on my laptop and i can use it as the numberpad seeing that i don't have one. if ur looking at buying a product like this get this one.
Only purchase if you're an expert on programming this November 29, 2008 I purchased this game pad hoping to be able to use it for gaming, of course. I'm an IT person and my fiance builds computers. We've both had a good deal of experience learning new programs and figurering out how to make hardware work. Neither of us has sorted this one out.
We're only able to program a few functions for the games WarHammer and TOP. Neither of these games is difficult to navigate.
Even if you are experienced, I suggest you spend the extra money and go for a product that users say is easier to program.
Almost perfect October 25, 2008 I had a Belkin n52te in my hands for a few days but never opened it after reading reviews that the Saitek had more buttons and was less expensive. I am glad I took the Belkin back. The Saitek almost instantly improved my gaming as soon as I used it. I play FPS but I'm sure it would work well for other games as well. The only thing keeping it from getting a 5 star (and it may not even be the peripherals fault) is that sometimes I find myself stuck going in one direction until I press the opposite direction button i.e. the button doesn't stick, I just keep going even though I'm not pressing a button. Also, those not used to key mapping software may get confused. I found it easy.
Oh Yeah October 13, 2008 this is an amazing piece of equipment especially for the price. it offers comfort and control that a keyboard simply cannot compete with. the thumb stick allows you to relax and sit back, your fingers are totally free to press any of the fully programmable buttons due to the great design. the thumb stick also is adjustable for different hand sizes. the backlight (red, yellow, and green) is a plus especially for those late night deathmatches and raids, it is definalty bright enough and looks great in any lighting. the multiple profiles allow for customization for each game genre (FPS, RTS, RPG, etc...) my only complaint is there are only twenty buttons, this is far more than the belkin version but i still wish there were more. I would give this product a 4.6 of of 5.0 rating. I am very impressed with it and surprised that i was ever able to game without it. anyone looking to improve their PC gaming ability should look no further.
Good pad, but ergonomic's a stretch October 2, 2008 I purchased this pad as an upgrade for my Nostromo N52 (which I still love to this day) because of the four additional buttons and the Shiftstate (two really great features). While this has helped greatly in many games, since I have more buttons at my disposal, my wrist has been telling me otherwise. I had my N52 for 4 years, without a wrist problem. All it took was 3 months for the bones in my palm to start jamming into my wrist (quite painful, trust me). So, a word of caution to anyone who has lax joints, stick with something more ergonomically-inclined, like the N52. The loss of buttons is a disappointment, but losing your wrist is a bigger one.
