3 out of 5 stars Kindle   December 2, 2008
I love this product and enjoy looking up words I do not know, previewing books, etc. However, I notice there is a black line being burned into the screen and graphics come in blurry. Mr. Bezos give us color too! This has so much more potential to be amazing but for now it is great.

5 out of 5 stars Kindle is great!   December 2, 2008
I purchased the Kindle after seeing it on Oprah. I absolutely love it!!! I wasn't sure how I'd feel not having a book in my hand. And it took a little getting used to. But after a month of using it, there's no going back for me. There are a few things I haven't figured out. I seem to hit the "BACK" button (under the next page on the right) and I can't figure where I've gone or how to get back to where I was in the book. It's probably as plain as the nose on my face..but I can't figure it out. ;)

I also don't like that there are no "page numbers." Yes there is a location number, but I'm not likely to remember I'm on location number 2263-1175. Give me page 7. I can remember that. But I understand with using 6 different font sizes, no one's page numbers would be the same.

My biggest problem seems to be that I read ENTIRELY too quickly. I know that on the Tuesday before the next month, I can walk into my local Books a Million and pick up the new books available on 12/1. Not so with the Kindle. You have to "pre-purchase" them. Then they arrive on the first of the month. Which is great. BUT some of the books I read aren't available in Kindle's format yet. There's a nice feature that allows you to request that book in Kindle format, but there's no way to know if or when it becomes available. There should be an alert system that tells you once you've requested a book in Kindle format, that it's available.

I'd like Amazon to have a list of books you've purchased available on your homescreen of the website. And/or a wish list. I've had to create a Word Doc on my home PC to list the books I want to read because what I want to read isn't available in Kindle format yet.

I have not really used the blogs, magazines or newspapers on the Kindle. I've browsed them. But I haven't purchased any. My husband likes that there is free wireless internet on the Kindle. It's a little slow to move around, but you can use it!

I think once publishers realize that this is the future, all books will be available right away in Kindle format. Until then, I'll have to slow down my reading process. :)

5 out of 5 stars love it!!   December 2, 2008
I bought the Kindle one month ago and have to say I love it!! I don't know how I lived without it.

5 out of 5 stars Love my Kindle   December 2, 2008
I just got my Kindle about 2 weeks ago and I wasnt sure if I would like reading books on a electronic device. But after starting my first book I downloaded on it I find I just love it! I have 5 books downloaded on it and have read 3 of them. So very easy to order and get a book. I love everything about it.

5 out of 5 stars This is the future!!!   December 2, 2008
I purchased the Kindle after seeing it on Oprah. I am an avid reader and own hundreds (probably thousands) of books. This was a huge point of contention between me and my husband. Now I can read the best sellers without having to wait for someone to return it to the library, without cluttering up my house, saving trees, and saving money, etc. This is absolutely the best $300 I've spent in a long time. Also, I am a teacher and I shared this with my students. They thought it was absolutely fantastic also. Many students were inquiring about textbook availability. This is definitely their future. No more 70+lb packbacks sticking out 3 feet behind every student.... Way to go Amazon!!
