Image washed out, vendor claims this is OK September 8, 2010 Math Twain HY (N Potomac, MD United States) It gives a washed out scan, like old faded photos. I bought this scanner and it was delivered promptly. However, images are washed out. I communicated with the vendor and they were helpful. I had an Epson 2400 photo scanner, which gives out excellent results. However, this one gives out a washed out look. I sent the vendor my scans and those with the Epson unit. There is a great difference. I returned the unit. The vendor claimed there is nothing wrong. So I asked for a refund. I even paid for the return postage. If you do not mind a washed out look, get it, otherwise invest on a better scanner.
Great Scans, Miserable Slide Tray August 18, 2010 RLR (Norwalk, CT USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this scanner based on the favorable reviews on Amazon. I've been using it for three days now, and I find the scans to be super-quick and of good quality, BUT, the three-station slide tray is torture. That's the only reason I knocked my rating down from five stars to three.
There are two problems with the tray. First, the moulded recesses for the slides are too small, making loading slides a chore and requiring much more attention than is should. Secondly, the tray is tricky to open - I'm always afraid that I'll crack the plastic when I go to remove the slides.
Great Digital Slide Converter! August 2, 2010 GaryTheDataMan i did a lot of research before purchasing the SVP scanner, and it really paid off. The scans are quick and easy, with plenty of simple but effective options to flip, reverse, and adjust lighting built right in. i didn't have to even crack the book open to figure out how to use it, then put my 16 year old son to work scanning the slides from my late father. He has already done more than 1600 slides in the last couple of weeks, just working about an hour a day for most of the days. He has gotten so he can convert the slide to an SD card at a rate of more than 100 per hour. We still have another 1000 to do, and expect that to be done within the next week. This has been the perfect scanner! my old one took easily more than 10 times longer, and required the computer to be dedicated to the scanning. this is easily done sitting on the coffee table!
SVP Digital Scanner July 30, 2010 chaz Purchased SVP Digital Scanner and memory card, unit operater O.K. with great results as you can lighten up dark imiges with their software supplied with their CD supplied for storage into my computer.
Instructions are not as precise as could be, but it can be mastered and made simple with little effort.
35 mm film and negative scanner July 26, 2010 AnneMarie 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is an excellent, convenient device for converting 35 mm slides or negatives to digital format. The scans are good quality - 3,600 dpi. The scanner stands alone so you're not tied to your computer. (If it is attached to the computer by the DSL cable, then pictures are saved directly on your computer.) As a stand alone scanner, it can be powered by 4 AAA batteries or by an AC/DC adapter. It comes with a 2GB SD card. I found it most convenient to set up my scanner and slide trays in a comfortable place SVP Digital Film Scanner w/ 2.4" Build-in LCD (2GB Included), ~"World's Smallest Film Scanner"~and scan away. The scans are saved directly to the SD card, if it is inserted. I then downloaded the scans to my computer, from the SD card, to edit and save the pictures. Some of my slides are 40 years old, so the colors had faded. The scanner comes with photo editing software but you can use the photo software you prefer. Then I have saved my photos in batches to DVDs and SD cards.
