5 out of 5 stars THE BEST MOUSE EVER!!!   August 1, 2010
ljfbudy
I BOUGHT THIS MOUSE BECAUSE I AM A CAD OPERATOR AND ON THE COMPUTER A LOT. I NEEDED SOMETHING ELSE THEN THE WORST MOUSE EVER MADE "APPLES MITTY MOUSE". WITH THIS MOUSE IT JUST FITS IN MY HAND AND I LOVE THE BUTTONS. I ALSO GAME WITH IT WHEN I AM AT HOME AND I THINK IT IS A VERY GOOD MOUSE TO GAME WITH, I DON'T KNOW WHY PEOPLE WOULD BUY A GAMING MOUSE JUST FOR GAMING JUST BUY THIS MOUSE AND YOU WILL HAVE A OUTSTANDING GAMING MOUSE AND ALSO THE BEST MOUSE FOR EVERYTHING ELSE. I ALSO REALLY LIKE THE FACT THAT IT CAN TRACK ON ANY SURFACE AND I BOUGHT THIS MOUSE A LONG TIME AGO AND I HAVE TRACKED ON JUST ABOUT EVERY SURFACE YOU CAN THINK OF. YOU MAY THINK THAT YOU NEVER TRACK ON GLASS BUT ONE DAY YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE YOUR LAPTOP AND YOU NEED TO TRACK ON A GLASS TABLE AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO WITHOUT THIS MOUSE.

2 out of 5 stars Downgrade from MX1100   August 1, 2010
J. J. Mai
Having been using MX1100 in the past year, I thought this Performance MX would be a nice upgrade. Turns out not so. This Performance MX has one less button than the MX1100. For MX1100, I used one pair of buttons of volume up/down, another pair for shift/control, and the hidden thumb button for application switcher. Before I bought Performance MX, since its zoom button has to be combined with scroll wheel in order to zoom up/down, I thought the zoom button could also be programmed to work with scroll wheel to control volume as well. But that was not the case. So it leaves me one button short.
What's worse, the zoom button is placed so closed to the other thumb buttons, making them very difficult to use.
And finally, the scroll wheel doesn't tilt much or click, so it's very hard to scroll left/right on a page.
I think I'll be going back to my MX1100 mouse - the MX1100 that comes in the Wave Pro combo also allows charging via micro USB and replaceable AA battery, like Performance MX. Unfortunately Performance MX's Unifying receiver does not work with the Wave Pro combo.
Btw, I am using Setpoint 4.80 (from late 2009) instead of the newer 6.x version (started around early 2010). Word on the logitech forum is that new 6.15 versions are still very buggy and missing features from the 4.x versions.

5 out of 5 stars LOGITECH Perfomance MX mouse   July 31, 2010

Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse MX for PC and Mac

The MX is a beautifully designed mouse. It fits my hand and is very comfortable. I sometimes use it for hours on photos in Photoshop Elements 8 and photoshop CS2. And the two rechargeable batteries will be easy to replace when replacement is required. Also you can turn the mouse off with a switch on the bottom of the base. The USB cord can be used to charge the unit while you use it should you forget to charge the batteries between uses. The laser provides precision in working on your photos. A great tool.

2 out of 5 stars Terrible Ergonomics   July 30, 2010
Kenneth Cole
I've used this mouse for two weeks. My wrist has been in so much pain in that time that I've had to abandon it altogether and switch to a much simplier, much cheaper mouse. I'm a Windows user and used this mouse at work.

The good: Software, battery life, ease of use, # of buttons and ability configure buttons. It slides smoothly on surfaces and has good precision and reliable response.

The bad and the ugly: The ergonomics are awful. The mouse has so much vertical height that it forces the user to bend their wrist in an awkward and uncomfortable position...and I have relatively large hands. After an hour of use I was starting to notice irritation. After a day I was switching my seating position and chair height trying to find any way to use the mouse. After two weeks of an aching wrist I'm giving up and retiring the mouse. A shame for all the good things that come with it.

Small complaints: I can configure my other Logitech mouse to execute a "Show Desktop" command on a non-essential button press. That feature is priceless for the scatter-brained and professional users. For reasons unknown that option was disabled. The "Application Switcher" works very well in Windows but doesn't replace the blank slate "Show Desktop" command.
