Just what I was looking for! November 21, 2008 Outstanding monitor for the price and size. Liked the first one I bought so much at a store that I bought a second one from Amazon.
Great monitor for the money November 19, 2008 I bought my at Staples because they had a better price. This is a vast improvement over my old crt monitor. Just plugged it in and it was ready to go. Color is great, picture is crisp and clean. Great value for the money.

Text not sharp enough November 10, 2008 When I buy a 1680x1050 resolution monitor, I understand text will be displayed smaller than the more commonly used resolutions. Of course, I expect it to be finer as well. This text was not fine enough to justify the purchase, thus I had to request a return. If you must get this monitor, I'd recommend increasing font size or using a smaller resolution (which defeats the purpose of a 1680x1050 resolution!). I haven't sampled text quality on many 1680x1050 22 inch monitors, but I expect it gets quite better. I'm still shopping for a better buy.
Works Great October 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Monitor was quick and easy to set up. Using 1680x1050 and it looks great. I looked at a lot of different monitors and this was the best deal for a 22 inch monitor I could find. Also like the P221W as it does not include speakers. Have had good luck with all of Acer products and this one is super. I would recommend the P221W to family and friends.
Good monitor, but focus issues, faulty cable and horrible customer service October 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The monitor itself is good, and is at a very good price. But I had the same issues with text on gray backgrounds that a previous reviewer had. Changing the focus fixed the problem, but at the sacrifice of some clarity in other applications.
Moreover, the cable that came with mine was defective, though. Beyond that it was a thin cheap VGA cable, it had problems that made the picture shiver (I cannot use the digital cable). I tried a VGA cable I borrowed from work, and that fixed it for now.
I didn't think it makes sense to return the whole monitor for just the cable. So I called the manufacturer to just get a new cable. The rep confirmed he could send me a new cable without my returning the whole monitor, but could not find the cable to order it for me. He then passed me on to hold for second level support, and after I finally couldn't wait any longer, I hung up.
I then went through a ridiculous discussion by email with them to get a new cable, where they asked me for part numbers for the cable beyond the numbers on the cable itself (how would I know?), etc. even though I keep saying "any VGA cable". After providing a long serial number, my address, etc. and all that cable information, they then said I would need to call as they cannot provide cables (so why did they make me provide all that information when it was clear I needed a cable from the first time I asked?). And just to make it extra enticing, they added that I should expect my "hold time to be longer than normal".
So in the end I returned the monitor and got the Acer V223W the other reviewer recommended. It fixed the focus issue, had a good cable, and was even slightly cheaper!
Bottom line: Good monitor, but Acer's V223W is better. Moreover, expect that Acer will provide terrible customer service.
