5 out of 5 stars Great value. Be sure to uninstall old HDMI audio drivers, if upgrading from another ATI card.   September 9, 2010

This Vapor-X card is much more quiet than the Sapphire Toxic HD3870 w/ Vapor-X it replaced. Silence was my number one concern, and this card delivers. The old HD3870 was audible when idle, and under load it was very loud. This new Vapor-X HD5770 is absolutely inaudible at idle, and is only very slightly audible under load. It's probably quieter under load than my old card was when idle.

Nice to have so many output options, and I really like the fact that ATI includes an audio stream with the HDMI output. Really makes things less complicated when attaching an HDTV. And of course I can run all my games at the highest settings.

At the time I purchased this card, anything higher-performance would have cost exponentially more. I'm all about getting the most bang for the buck rather than getting the newest, most expensive equipment out there. And I really don't see how I would have been any happier with say an HD5870, as I doubt the performance difference would be perceivable. The HD5770 was right in the sweet spot of giving you the most performance for your dollar, without breaking the bank. But of course it won't stay there forever, as newer cards come out. But that will always be the case. You have to jump in somewhere.

I will note that I did have problems when first installing this card, which were related to having drivers already installed for my old HD3870. After I first put the card in, the screen would eventually go black after running for a few minutes. Not a blue screen, not a forced reboot, just a completely blank screen, as if the video signal was no longer being sent. This happened consistently after every reboot, and at first I thought I had a bad card. But after some troubleshooting, I noticed that after I uninstalled the ATI Catalyst drivers from the Control Panel, the old ATI HDMI audio driver would still appear in my device manager. So I concluded that the HDMI driver being used was the same driver that had been used by my HD3870, since it was never removed. So I right-clicked and uninstalled the HDMI audio driver from the device manager, reinstalled the ATI driver package, and everything has been working fine since. It would have been nice if the uninstall of the Catalyst drivers removed the HDMI audio driver along with it, but it was not a huge deal to me.

5 out of 5 stars Very good product for the price!   August 9, 2010

I got the vid card on friday and in 30 minutes i was playing WoW in Ultra's quality without any issue.

The installation is very easy, since it's a small card compared to other brands i had no trouble at all removing pieces or fixing anything.

And finally what made me love this card is that it's really quiet! Even when playing, I tested it with Dead Space too and it looked amazing!

I'm planning on getting another one for x-fire since I loved this so much!

Btw I didn't have to flash the bios or anything, my card had the 800 shaders working since the beggining!

I had purchased one of this cards before from amazon, but it had the faulty bios which made them detect almost none of the shaders in the card, as such it would run extremely slow. I didn't know what was the problem at the time and send it back and got a new one with no problems.

I can run any game at its best settings (even crysis at really playable framerate) at 1440x900 or 720p.

My specs are asus p6t deluxe v2, i7 920, 6gb patriot memory at 1600.

If you have the p6t deluxe v2 don't forget to update your bios, it works with the previous 900's editions but may flunk out at any random point, just updade to the one in the 1000's.

Thanks amazon for the awesome customer service.

5 out of 5 stars great graphic card   July 19, 2010

I has been using my 5770 for a month and I'm really pleased, demanding games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect work without problem with max settings and with high resolution 1920x1080... in games like alpha protocol, it's not so great.. for some weird reason this game (with low graphic detail in general :s) don't work well with this card at maximum setting, and even with low setting I don't recommend resolution beyond 1360x768... with 3d modeling software this card is excellent (even with really high polys models :D )

the only drawback is heat!.. nothing dangerous for the card (without overclock) but I can see a difference between temp of this card and my old card.. so don't use 5770 in a low vent place (just in case)

well in the end I think it's a 5 stars card.. 'cause I receiving exactly what I paid for and I'm really happy with it!
