| Customer Reviews: Great HTPC Video Card June 12, 2010 M. Lane (CA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for my Windows 7 32 bit HTPC.
+ Fanless
+ Low Profile
+ HDMI
My HTPC connects to my Windows Home Server which is where I store all of my media. I have not had any issues - even streaming Blu Ray. I have a wired gigabit ethernet connection between the two computers.
This card was the last piece in the puzzle - and I have not had a single issue with it at all.
Disappointing for games June 7, 2010 Kiwi Tim 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
*Not* recommended for budget gaming. I bought this card for putting together what I hoped to be a budget gaming system, and I was sorely disappointed. It's barely any better than the onboard graphics card in my Gigabyte GA-880-series motherboard which comes with an integrated graphics processor. Further research has showed me that spending $70-$80 instead of $50 could have got me a graphics card with 3-5 times as much processing power (I think this one only had 80 shader units).
Despite this I acknowledge it has a few good points:
-Size - it's nice and compact. I have no ruler, but about an inch thick, and maybe 10 or 11 inches long
-Passively cooled, no fan, and silent
-Choice of D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI output
-Low, wattage (power usage)
It can probably still be good for someone who wants to build a low wattage, passively cooled system and has no real need of shader units. I'm going to pin my hopes on probably the Radeon 5570 or 5670 for my next try...
Fanless Blu-Ray Bitstreaming in Low Profile FF March 2, 2010 Robert Salita (CHI PAR PHX SYD PDX CLD NKC) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Finally, a low profile, FANLESS, bitstreaming card. Ideal in a low end HTPC. Delivers beautiful Blu-Ray video and enables Blu-Ray audio bitstreaming. Blu-Ray bitstreaming, a holy grail of the HTPC crowd, used to cost $200+ (installation headaches included for free). This card will do it for under $50 although you still need a software player such as Arcsoft TMT 3 (bitstreaming feature currently in public beta). Includes two low profile brackets.
Caveat, this card is not for gamers. It's fast enough for HTPC use but slow for gaming.
