GeForce gaming cards, like the 9600-GT, deliver the optimal computer gaming experience. | |
The EVGA e-GeForce 9600-GT is built for Microsoft Windows Vista so you can experience a premium 3D user experience. | The Premier Gaming Card The e-GeForce 9600 offers 512 MB of 256-bit GDDR3 memory with a 57.6 GB memory bandwidth. It offers full Microsoft DirectX 10 with full Shader Model 4.0 support, delivering unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects. The card is built on NVIDIA's unified architecture with GigaThread technology, a massively multi-threaded architecture that supports thousands of independent, simultaneous threads, providing extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next-generation shader programs. The card's NVIDIA SLI Technology dramatically scales performance by allowing two graphics cards to be run in parallel. This must-have technology for gamers delivers up to twice the performance of a single GPU configuration for unparalleled gaming experiences. It also features an integrated NVIDIA TV encoder with HDTV and S-Video outputs, and dual DVI connectors, which let you drive the industry's largest and highest resolution flat-panel displays (up to 2560x1600 displays). Other features include PCI Express 2.0 support, which increases both graphics and overall system performance, and Open GL 2.1 support, which ensures the best compatibility and performance for all OpenGL applications. Although the 9600 GT is designed to provide loads of graphics solutions, you'll notice the biggest difference in gaming. This GPU delivers ultra-realistic graphics and outstanding performance for the best gaming experience. And with the unprecedented stability, reliability, and compatibility, your computer's graphic processing will only be outdone by your gaming prowess. About NVIDIA SLI Technology NVIDIA SLI technology is a revolutionary platform innovation that allows you to intelligently scale graphics performance by combining multiple NVIDIA graphics solutions in a single system with an NVIDIA nForce SLI media and communications processor (MCP). Using proprietary software algorithms and dedicated scalability logic in each NVIDA graphics process unit and MCP, NVIDIA SLI technology delivers up to twice the performance of a single graphic solution. Basically, a pair of SLI-ready cards running in SLI mode can deliver up to twice the performance, allowing you to increase the detail or resolution in your favorite games. Plus, you'll get all this improved clarity without any interruption of your game play--your system will run smooth as glass. To take full advantage of the 9600 GT's SLI-ready features, you'll need an SLI-ready PC. This type of PC consists of an NVIDIA nForce SLI motherboard and one SLI-ready graphics card, such as the 9600 GT. With the 9600 GT and an NVIDIA nForce SLI motherboard powering your PC, you now have the ability to upgrade by adding a second SLI-ready graphics card at any time. No other PC component upgrade can offer the gaming performance boost gained by adding a second graphics card. NVIDIA SLI-ready components are backed by a rigorous testing and certification process to deliver an entire certification platform solution that ensures unmatched system stability and platform compatibility. NVIDIA Windows Vista-Ready Benefits The 9600 GT is a Windows Vista-ready graphics card that delivers a premium 3D user experience. This component drives the Windows VistaAero user interface and works as a second processor for the PC. The "second processor" is dedicated to graphics, offloading work from the CPU for better performance in multimedia-rich environments. With this work horse in your PC, you'll experience increased productivity with faster desktop response time and efficient multi-tasking without delay or stutters. It's amazing how much you'll benefit from instant access to multiple open windows and support for multiple monitors. You'll also be pleased with the crisp, vibrant look of all your photographs--NVIDIA digital vibrance control delivers unprecedented color clarity. Photo viewing and management in high-fidelity resolutions makes presenting and browsing your collection a pleasure. With the help of NVIDIA Digital Vibrance Control technology, the 9600 GT also helps deliver ultra-smooth HD DVD and Blu-ray disc playback. Plus, this card also provides an easy output to your TV or HDTV. Yet nothing quite compares the to rush you'll get from the ultra-realism of your games. The Vista-ready 9600 GT accelerates the latest standards in 3D, delivers unparalleled performance, and is best-of-class in stability, reliability, and compatibility.

Awesome Card! October 16, 2008 First off, for all you gamers out there looking to buy a cheap but great graphics card.. this is the one to buy. I know most people are all wondering how Crysis runs on this, well.. here's my review: All settings on Medium at 1920 x 1200 resolution runs like a dream. All high settings with 1024 x 768 runs pretty smooth with little to no lag. And with all settings set to Very High plays, but does lag, depending on the res you set it for. Not recommended to try and run this card on Very High for too long. Overall it smokes every other game on their max settings, easy to install, and the CD installation takes no time. 5/5 stars!
Great value October 15, 2008 I got this because my 7300GT caused me a lot of headaches in a PC with Vista Ultimate. I've really put this card through its paces and its performed admirably. Here is one purchase I don't regret.
Excellet performance for the price October 8, 2008 I bought two of these for SLI mode, my system specs -
CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 (Overclocked to 2.68GHz) Mother Board Asus P5NSLI RAM Crucial DDR2 533 (Overclocked to 600MHz) Hard Drives 2 Western Digital 80GB RAID 0 Power Supply ULTRA 700W Modular Power Supply
Previously I was using two 7600GT cards in SLI mode, after Call of Duty 4 came out it was time for an upgrade :-)
Pros -
Price Warranty 90 Day trade up program Fairly Low power requiremnts Low fan noise Single Slot design (this is a plus for me as my case is a bit on the small side) Do not generate too much heat (Ditto) Overclocked by the Factory :-)
Cons These cards are long, I had to re-arrange my hard drives when I installed them.
Now I can run all my favourite games at 1280x960 or 1280x1024 with all the details turned up :-)
Call of Duty 4 (absolutely amazing game, runs amazingly well on these cards) First Encounter Assult Recon (F.E.A.R / F.E.A.R. XP / F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate) Portal (Uses the Half-Life 2 engine) Far Cry (an oldie but a goodie) Quake 3 Arena Gears of War (Runs superbly) Unreal Tournament 3 (Simply amazing)
Also does well with the only RTS games I play -
Warcraft III - The Forzen Throne Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War & Winter Assult
If you're buying one card, make sure that your power supply has the 6pin PCI-E power connector, for SLI make sure your supply is SLI rated and has the power connectors for both cards.
Keep in mid you may have to move you hard drive / drives to allow the cards to fit. Also, be sure to register your card or cards online at the EVGA website for warranty purposes.
If these are out of your budget, get a couple of the 8800GS cards by XFX they are not quite as fast, but are cheaper.
Good but you should go for the 9800gt October 1, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just bought this card and it runs really well. But for a little more you can buy the 9800gt and get significant performance gain. I returned this card and bought the 9800gt. This website has an excellent review of the card. http://elektronikworld.blogspot.com/2008/09/9800gt-review.html
Should tell you everything you need to know about the card.
Flawed, but should be fixed by now September 7, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I needed a card for a budget gaming computer, to go with my Pentium D. It looked like a good choice, and it was...
I've got it running on a 305W supply fine, minimum recommended is 400W. Really happy with the performance, 1280*1024 and XP can max out settings on all source games, gears of war, bioshock etc..
However, the problems started when I tried playing Team Fortress, got the black screen of death issue. If you're ordering now, it should be fixed, but its the only reason its getting a 3 star instead of 5.
Buy this product.
